BARTMAN ADVENTURES

LIFE ON THE ROAD / BUILD PROJECT

The Portable Cabin

PROJECT STATUS: Concept / Feasibility

A lightweight, modular, rustic cabin designed to travel behind my Jeep and make remote adventures more comfortable.

Private Design Access

Illustrated portable cabin concept on a trailer with proposed dimensions
Concept illustration, not an engineered design. This rendering shows the intended look and approximate layout. Dimensions, trailer geometry, materials, structural details, and towing suitability must be verified before fabrication.

The Vision

The goal is a real cabin feel with a compact travel footprint. We are exploring a 6 x 12 ft cabin over an approximately 2 ft gear-storage structure, with a 15-30 minute setup target. The concept is not engineered or approved for fabrication. Trailer geometry, load ratings, structural design, and safe towing must be verified.

BUILD PROGRESS

Development Status

Concept / Feasibility
Currently evaluating the trailer structure, modular wall and roof connections, fabrication materials, setup sequence, and towing constraints with Prosser Automotive. The concept is not engineered or approved for fabrication. Measurements, ratings, and structural requirements remain to be verified.

THE ROAD AHEAD

Project Milestones

  1. Concept and design intent

    In progress

    Current phase

Define the rustic modular cabin vision, target footprint, and practical setup goals. Concept rendering is illustrative only.

  2. Trailer measurement and feasibility

    Planned

Verify the trailer deck geometry, GVWR, axle ratings, loaded weight, tongue weight, Jeep limits, and center of gravity before finalizing the structure.

  3. Fabrication approach and structural review

    Planned

Review aluminum, steel, or hybrid framing; connection methods; vibration durability; and safe attachment to the trailer with the fabricator.

  4. Prototype fabrication

    Planned

Build the approved structural base and modular cabin components after design and safety reviews.

  5. Assembly and field testing

    Planned

Measure real-world setup time, evaluate durability and weather resistance, and test towing and camping performance safely.
